Thanks, our Lisa!

It's three stars out of three for In Circulation! On the front pages of our first two issues we've brought you Robson Green and Mick Hucknall, who've given us their support. Now it's the North West's very own Lisa Stansfield.

Lisa, Rochdale's most famous daughter, has already been a pillar of support for our ward's Nova Appeal, sponsoring one of the appeal's first charity nights at the Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium in Manchester. Her parents, Marion and Keith, and prospective mum-in-law Jane also lent their support that night.

Since then, the family have donated cheques, proceeds from a quiz night and raffle and a cheque from the sale of one of Lisa's touring jackets which was sold at auction.

Lisa's mum also presented the Nova Suite with a beautiful, framed, autographed photo of Lisa which you may have seen displayed in the hall of the Suite. Keith, Marion and Jane all attended the opening of the suite last year.

So it is with special thanks to Lisa and her family from In Circulation that we include Lisa's picture and continued good wishes to Ward 27 and the Nova Suite in this issue. You can find out mum's perspective on having a famous daughter as Marion has also kindly written an article for us.


Prince Charles sees for himself

The MRI was delighted to welcome HRH the Prince of Wales on September 19, last year.

Prince Charles' visit marked the success of the Manchester Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund Appeal and marked the wonderful work carried out by Chris Pollard, hospital Macmillan nurse.
The Prince spent about 30 minutes in the day care unit where he chatted to patients undergoing treatment. He also met Sister Mary Murphy, operational manager, and Sisters Fay Godbert and Breege Smithers.

 Walk in to a bright new look

Prepare for a bright new look in the reception are and waiting room on the ward: they're in line for a wonderful redecoration.

Bright blues and yellows are the colours you'll soon be greeted by in a renovation funded by the amazing Nova Appeal.

The Appeal, launched by Paul and Sharon Worsley, has already brought us the wonderful Nova Suite. The £14,000 refit was next on the list of needs.

"The whole place will be stripped down to the bare bones." says ward social worker Gill McGlade. "It's going to be very bright; new drapes, carpets, chairs and coffee tables."

Vymura, who generously contributed to the decoration of the Nova Suite, are helping again by donating wallpaper. (Look out for it - it's one of the newest and best lines!!)
