MPs join forces to promote Furness
tourist hot spots
Two MPs have crossed the political divide
to help officially launch the 1996 top visitor attractions leaflet for
the Furness and Cartmel Peninsulas.
At the invitation of the Furness
Tourism Partnership, Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Michael Jopling and
Barrow and Furness MP John Hutton, arrivated at the celebratory event
in style. Phil Cotton of The Classic Bikes Museum drove the two men through
the streets of Cartmel on a 1926 Royal Enfield bike with side car.
Furness
Tourism Partnership manager Claire Logan said that more than 300,000
top visitor attractions leaflets have been produced for the 1996 season.
Distribution throughout Cumbria and the North West has been ongoing since
March.
To date the impact of the leaflet on tourism
figures has been very positive with many attractions having reported their
best Easter ever.
